Rombongan Sambil Belajar

UPDATED WITH PHOTOS.

Ranga giving us a lecture on how boxes are made. Every "type" of box needs it's own plate. Plates are customised with rubber pieces and blades between them. It's like an art form!

Some of the nice looking boxes made in Pandan Indah. I'll never look down on those mosquito coil boxes ever again.

We also got a tutorial on the printing process. CMYK, yadda, yadda. Oh, and then Ranga taught us how to spot the micro-lettering on the Ringgit notes. Felt like a scene out of Ocean's 11.

A couple of funny sights. Something's missing from the tool collection. Reminded me of "Kemahiran Hidup".

And then we got treated to a super lunch. Steamed fish in spicy bean paste sauce alongside some yau mak and taugeh. Awesome!

Ranga, thanks for the tour! It was super. I don't think I'll be visiting many factories in my lifetime, so this will always be a highlight (Awww...)

Ranga's taking us on a tour of his printing factory. It's huge! Never knew you had to do so much just to make a box!

Watch this space, I'll post photos here.

How much does it cost to print on your inkjet?

Ever wondered whether your cheap printer was actually worth the money?

The illustration below compares inkjet printers from HP and Eastman Kodak. Cheap printers usually mean paying more for printing (ink cartridges) in the long run.

When manufacturers slash the prices of their ink cartridges, then tend to also reduce the volume of ink. This in turn means a higher cost per page.

Lower-priced cartridges from Eastman Kodak ($9.99) and Hewlett-Packard ($14.99):
