Vivid dreams

I had two dreams last night.

Strangely, both were vivid. In fact, I find it weird that I can recall both.

Act 1: I was playing futsal with 3 close friends (Yap, Ranga, Vicky). I think it was Ranga and me versus the other two. We were running around this empty room with a table placed in the middle. On top of the table was a big vase. At some points, we were kicking a pillow around. Next thing I know, I'm in a toilet looking at the mirror. My teeth looks funny. That's because I've lost my 3 front teeth. I keep them in my pocket.

Act 2: I am dropping my boss home. The automatic gate is tiny and gives the impression that the house is very small. His automatic gate opens up. Next thing I see is lush greenery, and hillocks on both sides of the gate. A classic car is parked at the top of each hillock. There must have been many of them. They're all white, and shiny. But strangely, each car looks like an ambulance. They've all got those big giant red beacons on their roof.

Yes, I was late for work today.

Did you have a vivid dream too?

Could I borrow your glasses?

At the bottom of this drain lies a pair of glasses. Note to self: don't spit in drains again!

Bad day, yesterday

Murphy's Law states that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

I had some rotten luck yesterday. A mad thunderstorm, which left me totally drenched. A car that wouldn't start, because the battery died. A disappointed girlfriend, because I couldn't fetch her.

Thankfully, today has been good, thus far. I missed a mobile blogging moment with AAM earlier this morning, but that's minor compared to the roller coaster ride yesterday.

Here are some things that I re-learned over the last 24 hours:
  • March & April are rainy months in Kuala Lumpur. If you park outdoors, always carry an umbrella, even if it makes you look geeky.
  • The price of an AAM maintenance-free battery has skyrocketed from RM175 (July 2006) to RM238 (April 2008). That's a 36% jump. I was told that this price point applies to other brands too.
  • The average life span of a car battery is 1.5 years. Mine just passed that mark (1 year & 9 months).
  • How to tell when your battery is about to go kaput: with the cheap Malaysian / Japanese cars, it supposedly gives some "soft" signs at least 1-week prior. e.g. it stutters, or just feels different. Your best bet is to drive it to your local mechanic and have it changed immediately.

On my wishlist for 2008

I'd like flexi-working hours. Travelling during rush hour is such a waste of life.

What would you do to make this happen within the next year?

November to Remember

I celebrated my birthday in November. Yes, I am a Scorpio. We rock.

It was a splendid birthday week. Great times, food and lots of drinks with my closest friends, family and colleagues.

It started off with a birthday cake in the office. Caught me totally by surprise. Yes, everyone sang, and I had three BIG candles.

Then Happy Hours with the boss and a few colleagues over at The Social:

Followed by dinner with Mel and my family over at Delicious. I was a load of fun at this point, thanks to a few rounds of "Indian Golf", and lots of single malt =). This photo is really cool - we're all sitting at the same table! There's a mirror behind Mel. Impressive shot made possible by booze:

I received an amazing birthday gift the following day:

A few days later, Shivani (Sagittarian!) and I shared a birthday cake with the Singapore gang:

Later that day I got another cake. This time, my absolute favourite - Sonny's blueberry cheese cake:

...and blew the correct number of candles this time around:

Topped it all off with a smashing party at Scarlet with my buddies. One great Flaming Lamborghini, lots of drinks, dancing, and I didn't throw up!

A year older, a little wiser, and looking forward to my next birthday!

6 weeks later

I'm back.

I'm sorry for the extended absence. Where did I go? Nowhere. My typing fingers were just a little temperamental. I don't touch type perfectly, so that's between 4 to 6 fingers running around the keyboard aimlessly when I blog. Not very efficient as you may imagine.

As Ranga puts it: "tonnes of bloggable material", over the last 6 weeks. I was just too lazy, period. And then there was (is?) FoodFoo, but I'll let Prashant blog about that.

Thank you for leaving comments, and for constantly "poking":

Ranga & Tsu Lin poking me at the 2nd week & 4th week

I hope to be a better blogger.

(For context, please read: I'll be back)
